some intial ideas/thoughts. it's quite raw.
Utopia is based/built on our desires and wants, which changes and evolves over time, sometimes overnight, sometimes slowly over a period of time. Utopia does not bring happiness although we think it will, because humans can never be satisfied with what they have/what is current. we want to see change, progress, surprise and new things so that we feel that our life has meaning and we are in motion, not stagnant. the idea of utopia can only remain fiction, an idea, not tangible, because it will not be utopia anymore after we build it. it is like 'cool'. once it is labeled cool, it ain't cool anymore. Utopia should be something that will always remain a dream, a goal, for this unreachable goal is what helps us see the future/get a glimpse of it. we know we can create a better future and this drives us to live each day and work hard for it. but utopia should not be achieved, only so that we can keep living and life will remain meaningful. we are always on the journey, and that's what matters.
Is utopia a destination or a journey? if it is a destination, it will only be one of the many destinations. but the process of chasing utopia is enough to sustain life.
Architecture facilitates our desires. A city full of shopping malls, restaurants and exclusive clubs only reflect the habits, behavior and lifestyle of the people living there. it is only too obvious to the rest of the world what the desires of the city are(looking from a third party's pov). but whether this is actually a reflection of what we desire or what is first imposed onto us to create the desire in us, it is something like a hen and egg thing.
Is utopia an idea we brainwash ourselves with? Utopia is a man-invented term/concept in the first place.
Human nature vs. Utopia
What can stop us from chasing our utopia is a dateline=death, physical or spiritual, where in the latter, you choose to stop chasing, resigning to the fact that utopia is unachievable and there is no point in taking part or continue. perhaps it's the process of chasing that matters. the destination is unreal but the journey is real.
Working towards a goal which you can never achieve, is your goal. perhaps its the incompleteness or glimpses we occasionally get of utopia, that keeps us moving forward.
Question the concept of utopia.
Utopia is built around restrictions.
